System Engineer

About The Position

The IT Infrastructure Team of All Options, operate at the intersection of high processing demands and low latency within geographically constrained infrastructure. As we expand our trading footprint, we are growing our US IT presence and hiring a versatile System Engineer to join our global Infrastructure team. Based in our US office, you will take shared ownership of our infrastructure, with a focus on the US environment, while collaborating closely with colleagues in Amsterdam and Austin. You will build a deep understanding of our server landscape, network topology, cloud providers, and core systems to ensure our platform runs securely, reliably, and at high performance.

Requirements

  • We are looking for someone with 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure roles, who meets most of the following criteria (or is eager to grow into them)
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and containerization (Docker)
  • Solid background in Linux systems administration
  • Good understanding of server, storage, and network infrastructure
  • Experience with automation, scripting (e.g. Bash), and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows and tools
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and firewalls
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or Zabbix
  • Basic experience with network analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark, tcpdump )

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with virtualization technologies and storage provisioning (e.g. VMware) is a plus
  • Previous experience at a trading firm is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and evolution of a scalable, multi-location IT architecture capable of handling varying loads and latency requirements
  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineers, performance engineers, and developers to proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Build and manage Kubernetes environments, including developing operators and improving deployment pipelines
  • Migrate legacy systems to modern infrastructure designs and continuously optimize performance
  • Coordinate and implement new installations, including server deployments and exchange connectivity in collaboration with developers and vendors
  • Design and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Support and maintain office IT infrastructure as needed
