About The Position

INTEC System Engineer: Assigned to Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs) including safety significant equipment. Maintains knowledge and responsibility for ensuring all technical information in all documents (drawings, documents, operating procedures, system notebooks, etc) are accurate and thoroughly representative of assigned systems. Reviews and approves all changes to assigned systems, including, but not limited to, temporary modifications, permanent modifications, field changes, procedure changes, drawing changes and any other changes to associated configuration managed documents, ensuring accurate and thorough configuration management is maintained for the systems. Considered the Technical Authority for system design requirements, system performance criteria, design, operation, testing and maintenance. This System Engineering position is assigned to mechanical systems with special interest in safety significant equipment and mechanical systems within a nuclear or chemical processing facility. Additionally, System Engineer provides support for used nuclear fuel projects occurring within nuclear facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nuclear, mechanical, chemical or electrical Engineering discipline plus 8 years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • System Engineering/Nuclear Facility experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a System Engineering notebook (or equivalent electronic file cabinet) which includes SSC vendor technical information, appropriate standards references, lessons learned, system history of repairs (preventative maintenance feedback), project history, modifications history, operational problems and other unique conditions or circumstances.
  • Support maintenance and operations activities performed on assigned systems.
  • Review and approve Work Orders associated with assigned systems.
  • Support training associated with assigned systems.
  • Review and approve changes to documentation (drawings, procedures, system descriptions, etc) associated with assigned systems.
  • Perform appropriate actions necessary to comply with approved company level procedures.
  • Ensure proper configuration management for assigned systems, including but not limited to design changes, use-as-is determinations, equivalencies, commercial grade dedication determinations, etc.
  • Attend project meetings and interface with Project teams as the Technical Authority for those projects that interface with assigned systems.
  • Review Preventative Maintenance results and provide PM Justifications as necessary to modify the PM basis for assigned systems.
  • Evaluate system performance, manufacturers recommendations, and product warnings and make recommendations for system upgrades.
  • Provide analysis and make recommendations to Operations when system is suspected of inoperability or degradation.
  • Make recommendations as necessary for improvements in processes or organizational activities.
  • Actively participate in organizational/facility process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain System Health Reports.
  • Take direction from and report frequently to the Spent Nuclear Fuel Engineer Manager to verify technical deliverables are accurate and thorough (home organization).
  • Take direction from and report frequently to the Project Manager to provide consistent, on-time technical deliverables for assigned projects (matrix organization).
  • Perform appropriate actions necessary to comply with approved Project Execution plans and procedures.
  • Ensure vendor technical information, appropriate standards, references, lessons learned, system history of repairs (preventative maintenance feedback), project history, modifications history, operational problems or other unique conditions or circumstances as necessary are appropriately captured and included into Project deliverables/ schedules.
  • Coordinate with Design, Criticality, Nuclear Safety, Analysis, Quality engineering and drafting as necessary to support of Project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with and serve as backup to the Project Manager. Make “proceed-at-risk” determinations, assist with planning and scheduling, assist with development of fuel movement plans/ strategies, assist with determination of resources and budgets, and manage execution of assigned projects.
  • Oversee Equipment Acceptance Testing and ensure that designs and equipment meet Technical and Functional Requirements.
  • Complete assigned projects/tasks as assigned by management.
