About The Position

The System Engineer Level 1 supports the analysis, design, development, and integration of complex systems in support of mission requirements. This role focuses on translating user needs, operational concepts, and high-level architectures into clear, verifiable system requirements and design solutions. The engineer contributes to system architecture, technical documentation, and lifecycle activities while collaborating with government stakeholders, program teams, and senior leadership to ensure technical integrity and successful system delivery.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of experience as a Systems Engineer on programs of similar scope, complexity, and technical requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an additional five (5) years of relevant Systems Engineering experience may be substituted.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a security background investigation and polygraph.
  • DOD 8570 Certification
  • This position requires an active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements, concepts of operations (CONOPS), and high-level system architectures to develop and maintain system requirements specifications.
  • Assist in the design and development of system architectures and technical solutions aligned with frameworks such as DoDAF and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Support the development and maintenance of systems engineering documentation, including Systems Engineering Plans (SEPs), Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and system design artifacts.
  • Participate in requirements decomposition, functional analysis, and allocation of requirements to hardware, software, facilities, and personnel components.
  • Generate and evaluate alternative system concepts, architectures, and design solutions.
  • Contribute to verification and validation planning by defining methods, processes, and evaluation criteria to ensure systems meet requirements.
  • Assist with system integration, test planning, and implementation activities throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to support the development of new capabilities, considering both development and operational constraints.
  • Coordinate and track action items resulting from Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews.
  • Support interface definition, configuration management, and change control across affected teams and stakeholders.
  • Allocate and analyze performance parameters such as real-time processing and error budgets at the system and subsystem levels.
  • Assist in developing derived and lower-level requirements that are complete, correct, unambiguous, realizable, and verifiable.
  • Contribute to information assurance and cybersecurity requirements, including confidentiality, integrity, availability, non-repudiation, authentication, access control, and cryptographic mechanisms.
  • Communicate technical considerations, issues, and risks with government representatives, program personnel, and senior leadership.
