About The Position

Overview Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoastal Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services. Responsibilities Responsibilities of the System Director of Therapy Services include: Management of the daily operations for Therapy Services at CMMC, Bridgton and Rumford Hospitals and CMCA therapy clinics. Activities will include developing and maintaining both internal and external partnerships while engaging clinical caregivers to provide and improve delivery of patient care, new program development, and value to populations served. Serves as a leader in the orthopedic service line triad to ensure the delivery of quality clinical services throughout the continuum of care. Responsible for market growth and process improvement through analyzing, evaluating, planning, implementing, and the development of programs and services. Assures achievement of Rehabilitative Services program development at multiple hospitals and ambulatory sites across the care continuum and in adherence to hospital policies and standards as set forth by accrediting bodies related to regulatory agencies. Essential Duties: Directly responsible for achieve organizational goals as it relates to therapy services thought out the system in the following three key areas: Quality & Safety Patient satisfaction Team member engagement Stewardship: P&L budgets and productivity standards Growth and development Gain support for strategic and financial planning, and clinical program development in conjunction with the corresponding Medical Director and administrative leadership. Evaluate and implement new technologies and services that enhance patient care, provide growth opportunity and help provided added value to patients. Evaluate and develop strategic plans based on population need through engagement with physicians, referral sources and stakeholders as well successfully implementing plans to drive growth and improve value. Work with clinical system teams to evaluate and implement evidenced based guidelines and best practices that enhance patient care. Promote continuous performance improvement and clinical decision support systems that are data-driven and evidence-based. Serve as liaison between inpatient and ambulatory settings across the system Serve as liaison between therapy and orthopedics. Collaborate to develop and implement clinical and operational improvements, engaging teams in patient safety and performance improvement related to Rehabilitative Services. Ensure that accreditation and specialty certification needs are met for each program of responsibility within Rehabilitative & Orthopedic Services Promote continuous performance improvement and clinical decision support systems that are data-driven and evidence-based. Collaborate to design specific key performance indicators and to achieve financial performance objectives of the service through managing operating and capital budgets, managing patient utilization, and implementing cost management strategies. Assess each Rehabilitative & Orthopedic Services area of responsibility dashboard for performance and take corrective action where required. Monitor budgetary indicators and recommend budget adjustments as appropriate. Provide input into pricing structures and assist in the development of pricing packages for contracting groups Establish and maintain staffing models to effectively manage daily practice operations while exercising financial stewardship. Evaluate the cost and value to ensure market competitiveness. Demonstrate effective inspiration and servant leadership. Provide an environment that fosters teamwork, mentoring, coaching, and learning as measured by associate engagement. Establish service performance goals, allocate resources, and evaluate performance. Assist in continued development and progression of established disease management programs that will improve the health of the community. Participate in and promote community outreach programs, events, education and other ways to ensure that the hospital and ambulatory clinics stay connected to our community and mission in conjunction with the responsible Medical Directors and leadership. Maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies and rules of accrediting and certification bodies by monitoring the service operations and its programs and initiating required changes or improvements. Engage all team members to achieve relevant professional standards. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree preferred Experience in a healthcare environment leading inpatient and outpatient departments. Experience leading an ambulatory service line department is preferred. Proven ability to partner across disciplines. Knowledge and/or experience with Lean/Six Sigma a plus is preferred. Financial management and business development, as well as P&L experience in managing a service line. A successful track record of service, growth, quality, and financial performance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment leading inpatient and outpatient departments.
  • Financial management and business development, as well as P&L experience in managing a service line.
