About The Position

Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, providing comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties. Highlights: Summary: The System Director, Finance shall be responsible to plan, direct, and manage the overall financial performance, financial policies, internal controls, accounting practices, budgets, reporting, stakeholders, and relationships with employed physicians and physicians within the community. This individual shall be responsible for Reimbursement, Decision Support, and Financial Management departments. The Director will provide leadership to managers and staff and provide direction in the evaluation and monitoring of financial operations. Additionally, the Director will develop consistent processes and workflows across all Baptist facilities with regards to finance and financial reporting. The Director will provide oversight related to financial processes, functions and interdependencies. This individual will complete data requests, data analysis, budgeting, month end and year end closing responsibilities for the Reimbursement and Decision Support Departments. The System Director, Finance will report to the Chief Financial Officer and has collaborative work relationships with chief executive officers (CEO’s), Vice Presidents, Directors, and Managers of Baptist Health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant health care financial management experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
  • Knowledge of health care reimbursement.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to build, direct, and coordinate a capable team.
  • Ability to balance responsibilities and conduct effectively multiple task and competing demands.
  • Continuous monitoring and awareness of changes in health care industry
  • Track record for improving revenue cycle effectiveness.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Healthcare Administration (MSHA) and/or relevant experience within the healthcare services industry is preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
