About The Position

System Controls Engineer (Lead or Senior) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a System Controls Engineer (Lead or Senior) with experience in closed loop control systems architecture development, design, implementation, integration and test for a new program in Albuquerque, NM. The new program is responsible for designing and testing advanced concepts for the US Government. This position will be responsible for controls system requirements definition, controls architecture development, integration and test, V&V of requirements, and system support throughout the product lifecycle. The person chosen for this position will serve as a lead/senior controls engineer and work closely with the other lead engineers (electrical, mechanical, optical and software) in designing and implementing the overall control system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of experience programming in control system development
  • This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience developing electronic equipment used in controls
  • Experience in control of optical systems (gimbals, fast steering mirrors, etc.)
  • Experience with electro-optical systems (EO systems, electro optics)
  • Prior experience leading an engineering team

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment to develop overall closed loop control system for large complex optical systems.
  • Work in a team to develop requirements for control system.
  • Support electrical, mechanical, firmware and software teams as the controls SME.
  • Support integration and test of the control loops into the system.
  • Work in a team to develop verification and validation plans to ensure control requirements are met.
