About The Position

The System Administrator plays a vital role in supporting DoD contracts and Joint Mission Integration and Experimentation (JMIE) operations by ensuring the reliable installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of hardware, operating systems (Windows and Linux), applications, and network services across classified and cloud environments; the incumbent manages user accounts, performs routine backups, monitors system performance, applies DoD Information Assurance policies, conducts vulnerability assessments, and documents procedures to provide repeatable, high‑quality support, thereby enabling continuous, compliant, and mission‑critical system availability for JMIE stakeholders. CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES Ability to perform the following independently, under minimum supervision: Provide assistance as a Domain Administrator installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems (Windows/Linux) and hardware such as servers, desktops, and storage devices. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure reliability and efficiency. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control using tools like Active Directory. Implement security measures, apply patches, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards. Write or modify scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to automate routine tasks and improve system administration processes. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Manage backup solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity. Work closely with network engineers, developers, and other IT staff on system upgrades and integration projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years and possesses a deep understanding of: Managing Windows Server or Linux environments
  • Networking concepts and virtualization technologies
  • System monitoring tools
  • Cloud platforms and hybrid environments
  • Maintaining, configuring, operating and troubleshooting complex electronic computer interface systems and network equipment
  • U.S. Government computers, networks, and security
  • Administering server-side technology and networked computing systems.
  • DNS / DHCP / Kickstart / LDAP / Kubernetes / Red Hat 7&8 / Windows 10 / ACAS / Rancher / Grafana / Cloud Security Gateway
  • Maintain and create system documentation.
  • Create simple scripts (i.e. powershell or bash)
  • Automate installation, configuration, and provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.
  • Configure and manage operating systems (Windows and Linux), applications (commercial and government), networks (IPs, subnets, etc.), and network equipment (switches)
  • Configure and manage DOD and IC standard distributed authentication services
  • U.S. Citizenship is Required
  • Candidates must have an active TS/SCI clearance and CI Polygraph within last 5yr, or ability to pass CI polygraph within 6mo of hire.
  • Candidates will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score).
  • DoD 8140 Compliance Required
  • IAT LV III - Required
  • OE Certification Required

  • Five or more (5+) years of experience with implementation and understanding of Engineering principles in a professional environment
  • BS STEM Degree Preferred

  • Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required.
  • An active security clearance is highly desirable.
