About The Position

Amentum is seeking a System Administrator to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC). Key Responsibilities: System Administration: Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot a variety of systems, including Windows and Linux servers and workstations, as well as network infrastructure such as routers, switches, and firewalls Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level technical support to identify, analyze, and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues. This includes serving as an escalation point for user-reported problems (Tier 1 and 2) System Monitoring and Maintenance: Proactively monitor system performance, resource utilization, and network traffic to identify and address potential issues. Perform routine preventative maintenance, backups, and recovery operations to ensure data integrity and operational continuity Works with the Cybersecurity team to implement and maintain cybersecurity measures in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) directives. This includes applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), managing vulnerabilities, responding to incidents, and ensuring systems maintain their Authority to Operate (ATO) under the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Write procedures and/or reports, as applicable, to support existing or new processes, or as required to summarize data collected during engineering level testing. Perform other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field such as Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications
  • 5+ years’ work experience in Information Technology
  • A current DoD 8140 IAT Level II (or higher) certification (CompTIA Security+ CE, etc)
  • Strong experience with both Windows and Linux/UNIX operating systems.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware (e.g. HP, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Cornet, NetAcquire) and enterprise services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to quickly identify and solve technical problems
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Ability to support occasional travel
  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours and weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Other certifications such as CCNA, MCSA, or specific Linux/VMware credentials
  • Experience with or knowledge of serial data communications, fiber optics, multiplexing, data switching, digital voice systems and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technologies
  • Experience with various types of test equipment including but not limited to cable testers, tone generators and probes, network analyzers, signal verifiers and multifunctional network test devices
  • Knowledge of or experienced in Western Range operations at Vandenberg Space Force Base
