About The Position

By Light is seeking a System Administrator to join their Operations and Maintenance Team. The Administrator will work on an integrated team of system administrators, database administrators, system engineers, and application support professionals on the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Enterprise Sustainment Services (ESS) program for a government client.

Requirements

  • At least 7 to 10 years of experience in system administration.
  • Knowledge of Cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with RHEL systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux Scripting.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience with major incident response and crisis management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or under general direction.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Active VA Clearance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services.
  • IBM Verify Identity Access (IVIA) experience.
  • IBM DataPower experience.
  • Oracle WebLogic experience.
  • Apache Tomcat experience.
  • Apache Webserver experience.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Familiarity with VA policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, patch and deploy RHEL servers and systems, ensuring they meet organizational requirements.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, ensuring proper user access controls.
  • Manage network infrastructure, hardware capabilities, testing protocols, and software development.
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures to protect critical data and systems.
  • Install, update, and manage software packages, ensuring system stability and security.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including operating instructions, user guides, and installation instructions.
  • Provide feedback, document workflow deficiencies, and identify process improvements.
  • Maintain scripts for simple repetitive system administrative tasks.
  • Perform system installations, operating system patching, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with VA security guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Implement automation using tools like Ansible to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.
