About The Position

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a System Administrator Supervisor, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a System Administrator Supervisor, you will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of Data IT Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. Open to internal candidates only. The candidate selected for this requisition may be required to occasionally (e.g. outage and application upgrades) work outside normal business hours. Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource. AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers. BNH currently has an exciting career opportunity available for a System Administrator Supervisor to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT-related.
  • At least 8 years of progressively relevant experience in IT.
  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain within six months any requisite certifications required for assuming administrative role in accordance with DoD 8140.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience with Windows imaging and deployment using WDS, MDT, SCCM, including creation and maintenance of custom Windows images.
  • Deep expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Linux (including Red Hat Enterprise Linux), Windows Server OS, and enterprise storage solutions such as NetApp ONTAP and Red Hat IdM.
  • Proficiency in managing DNS, DHCP, and network services in dynamic enterprise environments.
  • Skilled in scripting languages, PowerShell, Bash, and Python, for automation and orchestration.
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware vSphere, Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp) and container orchestration platforms like OpenShift.
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server (MCSA, MCSE or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator), Red Hat Certified System Administrator/Engineer (RHCSA/RHCE), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Citrix Certified Associate/Professional.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex multi-platform environments.
  • Effective communicator with proven teamwork abilities and technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Primary role as the System Administer Lead is responsibility for the design, build, and administration of AEDC Test IT systems in support of AEDC mission areas.
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT staff, managing performance, expectations, and goals.
  • Track employee progress toward established goals and provide constructive input to annual performance reviews for members of the group
  • Interface with test customers (Air Force, civilians and consultants), and other BNH managers and engineers to ensure group objectives are being met
  • Monitor individual assignments and performance (technical, schedule, and cost) on specific tasks, and monitor job hours for project/task(s) reporting to leadership as requested
  • Monitor system performance, manage patching, and remediate vulnerabilities using enterprise tools like SCCM and WSUS.
  • Manage vendor relationship: Coordinate with third-party vendors, and manage contracts related to IT systems and services.
  • Oversee backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and system resilience.
  • Enforce and audit cybersecurity controls, system security baselines, and access controls in compliance with DoD standards.
  • Harden systems by managing Active Directory (GPOs, security policies) and securing network services (DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and the ISSM to design scalable system improvements and ensure cybersecurity compliance.
  • Administer Windows Server environments, core network services (DNS, DHCP), and support virtualization platforms like VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations and procedures while staying current with emerging technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned as required.
