Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) team is responsible for improving overall availability and efficiency for Microsoft’s cloud business. We have multiple teams focused on both Microsoft and Lessor datacenter performance and all aspects of datacenter utilization effectiveness that includes power, water and labor. The ServiceNow Engineering organization delivers and operates enterprise‑grade IT Service Management and Strategic Portfolio Management capabilities that enable Microsoft teams to run cloud operations at global scale. This role sits at the intersection of platform reliability, user experience, and operational excellence ensuring ServiceNow remains a trusted, performant system for Core Datacenter Services and broader CO+I stakeholders. As a senior individual contributor, this ServiceNow Systems Administrator owns the day‑to-day health and effectiveness of ITSM, Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), and future modules, through configuration, governance, and operational stewardship rather than custom code. The role partners closely with Service Engineers, service owners, and business leads to manage incidents and requests, maintain workflow integrity and data quality, lead upgrade readiness, and drive continuous improvement through automation and standardization. Success in this role is measured by platform stability, reduced operational friction, and tangible improvements to how Microsoft teams plan, execute, and operate cloud infrastructure, delivering immediate business impact at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • 3+ years technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own day‑to-day operational health, reliability, and governance of the ServiceNow platform with focus on IT Service Management and Strategic Portfolio Management
  • Lead incident, request, and problem management activities, including root cause analysis and service stability improvements
  • Administer and govern ServiceNow configurations, workflows, data quality, access controls, and upgrade readiness using low‑code and no‑code capabilities
  • Partner with engineering, service owners, and operations teams to operationalize services and reduce production support friction
  • Drive continuous improvements in platform performance, reliability, and user experience through standardization, automation, and operational insights
