About The Position

The System Administrator I provide essential support in the management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the hospital’s IT systems and infrastructure. This entry-to-mid-level role is ideal for individuals with a foundational understanding of IT systems who are eager to develop their skills in a dynamic healthcare environment. The System Administrator I will work closely with the IT team to ensure the reliable operation of servers, networks, and applications critical to hospital operations. Acts as an escalation point for Desktop/Service Desk Leads for troubleshooting assistance.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • OR 1-3 years of experience in a System Administration or IT support role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to lift and transport IT equipment as needed.
  • May require occasional on-call availability or after-hours support.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)) are a plus.
  • Basic understanding of server and network technologies, including Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with common IT troubleshooting techniques and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • System Management: Oversee the configuration, installation, and maintenance of servers, storage, and network systems. Ensure operation and reliability of all IT systems.
  • VDI: Maintain the virtual desktop infrastructure to ensure all applications / virtual environments are accessible to end users and running optimally.
  • Data Backup: Maintain the back up and services for all servers, systems and services related to technical operations with no loss of data quality or content.
  • Monitoring: Monitor all servers and ensure system integrity. This includes ensuring availability of resources on servers/systems.
  • RSAT: Maintain the Active Directory, Group Policy. DNS, DHCP, etc. & enforce optimal changes as needed.
  • Ticket Management: Actively address and update tickets assigned to your queue/team queue. Post-resolution follow-up to ensure the provided solution is efficient and satisfies workflow needs.
  • RCA: Provide root cause analysis of anomalies or issues that may arise in the environment for all issues. This is to understand issues to prevent reoccurring interruptions in workflow.
  • Database: Maintain all SQL databases and ensure maintenance tasks are running when scheduled. Also, working with 3 rd parties / other departments to troubleshoot as needed.
  • 365: Maintain ALL aspects of Microsoft 365, including admin centers, InTune and Azure
  • Compliance: Ensure that all IT systems comply with relevant healthcare regulations and standards, such as HIPAA. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Troubleshooting: Address and resolve technical issues. Provide support for system problems and collaborate with other IT professionals to find solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Ensure that knowledge is shared and accessible within the IT team.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to support technology needs and integrate IT solutions that enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Innovation: Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends. Recommend and implement new technologies that could benefit the hospital’s IT infrastructure and improve overall performance.
