Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science or related field
  • Minimum of 0 years of related experience or equivalent Systems Administration work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Basic understanding of server hardware, software, networking, and storage systems.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more server environments.
  • Basic communication skills to comprehend, follow direction and convey detailed technical data.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Good troubleshooting, problem identification and problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, patch, and secure Windows workstations and servers (physical and VMware) to support onsite and remote teams.
  • Manage Active Directory (users and groups), DNS entries, and system imaging and configuration.
  • Install, monitor, and troubleshoot network switches (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs) and Cisco hardware for reliable connectivity.
  • Stage, test, and validate portable data centers (servers, storage, switches, networking) for rapid field setup during planned outages.
  • Maintain deployment operating instructions, hardware inventories, and rollback procedures.
  • Keep firmware, OS images, and BIOS versions up to date on deployable equipment.
  • Serve as an escalation point for field support; communicate solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Travel adaptively between two Lynchburg sites (mandatory)
