Nexagen Networks is seeking a skilled System Administrator – Associate to provide day-to-day system administration and end-user support in a secure, mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate will support server operations, workstation management, and user support while ensuring systems remain secure, reliable, and compliant with established best practices. This role requires hands-on technical support, proactive system maintenance, and close collaboration with technical teams to support operational continuity. The System Administrator will contribute to system upgrades, security patching, documentation, and ongoing improvement of IT services supporting approximately 450 users.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance Requirement: Current and Active DoD Secret
  • Ability to obtain administrative privileges on supported systems, including CompTIA Security+ within the first 90 days of employment
  • Technical knowledge of Linux and Windows computing environments, networking protocols, and Microsoft desktop applications

  • PowerShell scripting experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide server support including applying updates, performing configuration changes, and conducting routine backups
  • Configure servers according to user requirements and documented best practices
  • Deliver daily phone and desk-side technical support for approximately 450 users
  • Perform routine system updates, upgrades, and patching of security vulnerabilities
  • Image new laptops using PXE boot processes
  • Upgrade and migrate systems to new hardware platforms
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across Windows and Linux environments
  • Communicate effectively with users and team members to resolve technical issues
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Show eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies
