About The Position

Provides technical and mechanical support for all Dysart fleet vehicles including, but not limited to school buses, service trucks, vans and equipment. Work includes diagnosing and performing complex repairs on gasoline and diesel vehicles.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Five (5) years of school bus, automotive or diesel mechanic work experience.
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Arizona driver’s license with an S and P endorsement or the ability to obtain same within 90 days of employment and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints ( IVP ) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic testing and identifies vehicle faults for all Dysart fleet vehicles including school buses, white buses, vans, service trucks and equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and identifies maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Performs a variety of vehicle repairs and maintenance including minor repairs and major engine disassembly and reassembly work; replaces failing vehicle components; complies with applicable regulations, rules and District policies and standards.
  • Assists in planning, prioritizing and schedules of daily operational work; identifies most critical maintenance needs; prepares required supplies and service trucks for scheduled work.
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining vehicle maintenance records and activity reports; provides detailed description of work performed, components/parts utilized and associated costs.
  • Organizes and maintains shop equipment and work areas; monitors hazardous conditions and ensures safe work environment.
  • Performs vehicle road testing to determine diagnostic evaluation, as well as safety of maintenance and repair work.
  • Responds to maintenance road calls and performs required repairs/maintenance or vehicle exchanges when needed.
  • May be assigned to respond to Road Calls depending upon the nature of the need.
  • May serve as a lead worker by assigning work and monitoring work completion.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
