This includes initiating, implementing, and updating patient care plans, making appropriate nursing assignments, and maintaining high standards of patient care, including specified rounding requirements. The role involves identifying problems and guiding personnel to solutions, fostering a positive working climate, and accurately and promptly implementing physicians' orders. The nurse administers medications skillfully, maintains accurate and complete records, ensures necessary supplies and equipment are available, and participates in planning changes and improvements. Additionally, the position involves participating in hospital safety programs, enforcing infection-control policies, effectively responding to emergencies, and keeping the House Supervisor informed of patient needs and unit acuity. The nurse is also responsible for maintaining all required education, evaluating personnel performance, assisting in policy review, providing assistance to other units, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality, displaying initiative, and adhering to hospital policies regarding punctuality, attendance, and scheduling flexibility. Effective communication with patients and families, adherence to patients' Bill of Rights, and performing all assigned duties are also key aspects of the role.
