About The Position

The Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks’ Aquatics Division is seeking dependable and qualified individuals to fill the seasonal/temporary, non–civil service Swimming Pool Operator positions for the upcoming Pool Season to begin May 2026 and end August 2026. Selected candidates will oversee the daily activities of a public swimming pool, not limited to, supervising Lifeguards and Pool Attendants, training Lifeguards on pool safety, investigating and reporting pool accidents to superiors, operating pool filtration systems, testing pool for water purity, recommending new procedures for controlling swimmers & improving working conditions, cleaning pool facilities & grounds, performing pool maintenance, preparing maintenance reports and other related duties as required and assigned.Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the minimum requirements for each position on their application and must attach all required certifications applicable to this role in order to be considered eligible. Individuals selected for this position will be required to successfully pass the pre-employment process, to include a physical examination, drug and alcohol screening, a criminal background check, and a Child Protective Services check prior to appointment.

Requirements

  • Minimum Age 17 (A work permit issued by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation is required for those under the age of 18.)
  • Two years experience as a Lifeguard and Swimming Pool Operator Certification.
