About The Position

Lake of the Pines Homeowners Association is accepting applications for the position of Swim Instructor. Lake of the Pines is a 2,000-home gated private community located in the foothills of Northern California between the towns of Auburn and Grass Valley. The Swim Instructor will teach lessons to individuals of all ages for our Lake of the Pines members and their guests for the 2026 Summer season. Participant class size is 1-3. Lessons are taught at the Lake of the Pines Swimming Pool. Training will be provided. Must be lifeguard certified. This is a seasonal position with an hourly range of $18.65 - $21.21. Pre-employment background search (if applicable) and live scan finger printing (if applicable) required.

Requirements

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification is required.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED/First Aid Certificates must be current.
  • Minimum age: 16 years old with valid work permit.
  • Move/ lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be available mid-June through mid-August from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm Monday-Thursday.
  • Must also be flexible with schedule and available during evenings and weekends.
  • Must be reliable, take initiative, responsible to care for children in the pool as well as demonstrate the ability to teach, think critically and interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • The employee is required to think clearly in emergencies and deal with interpersonal conflicts.
  • Employee is regularly required to complete work with deadlines and resolve problems.
  • The employee is frequently expected to concentrate and recall details and deal with frequent interruptions.

Nice To Haves

  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI), recommended.
  • Prior coaching/swim lesson experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach swim lessons to class size of 1-3.
  • Teach our swim program for children ages 6 months-12 years.
  • Observe daily sanitation requirements by checking pool water conditions for chlorine and PH (acidity) content as prescribed.
  • Notify supervisor if chemicals are not within limits.
  • Prepare pool area for class.
  • Install and remove lane lines and pool cover as necessary.
  • Give swimming lessons and organized group lessons or water sport team coaching.
  • Apply all Red Cross or equivalent fundamental training on swim instruction techniques/lifeguarding skills as applicable.
  • Teach in an enthusiastic manner.
