About The Position

The Douglas County Regional SWAT Team provides the entire County with a specially trained and equipped unified team for response to situations, both active and potential, which may require additional manpower, equipment, skills, or teamwork capabilities outside the regular resources and training of line officers. The SWAT Team may employ unconventional and unorthodox means of accomplishing this task with the purpose of gaining safe resolution for all involved.

Requirements

  • Open to: Fulltime Commissioned Members of Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Castle Rock, Lone Tree or Parker Police Departments.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time LE experience in Patrol with at least one of those years with one or more of the above agencies.
  • Not on Probation as of March 18, 2026 (See P&P-D-110).
  • Must be overall proficient or above for the last evaluation.
  • Not under a 2-Year Letter of Reprimand (based on the date issued or otherwise stated in the disciplinary letter).
  • Not currently under any discipline for Unsatisfactory Performance.
  • Not currently on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
  • Candidates selected to the SWAT team will serve a one-year probationary period on the SWAT team.
  • P&P-D-109 - Employees may complete a memo requesting a waiver for consideration to participate in the process.
