About The Position

THE ROLE: The Senior Vice President (SVP) of National Operations & Quality is the enterprise leader responsible for the strategic design, governance, and execution of the company’s entire production lifecycle. This role acts as the operational architect, establishing the national standards, policies, and systems that ensure every home is delivered with superior quality, optimized cycle times, and disciplined financial performance. By merging traditional construction expertise with advanced systems thinking, the SVP ensures that all divisions operate with a "one-company" approach. DAY IN THE LIFE: Oversee the development and maintenance of the national library of plans and structural options, ensuring market-leading design is balanced with cost-efficiency. Direct the 8-Step New Plan Development process, ensuring seamless transition from concept to build-ready assets. Authorize and oversee all architectural spending, coordinating the strategic use of third-party firms and lot-set consultants. Oversee the establishment of the national options catalogs and design packages for each division to streamline the selection process and inventory management. Standardize the digital tools and resources used to create and manage design packages and Non-Standard Options (NSOs). Define the framework for interior design delivery, ensuring consistency whether executed in-house or via third-party partners. Oversee the implementation of a rigorous cost-management system utilizing detailed take-offs. A primary mandate is ensuring that 70% of all vertical spend is governed by "should-cost" analysis. Oversee national bid events, trade negotiations, and the centralization of take-offs to leverage enterprise scale. Establish the national standards for trade onboarding, training, and financial accountability to ensure a robust and loyal vendor base. Assess and lead improvements in permitting and forward planning cycle times, ensuring start dates are met with surgical precision Standardize lot development processes, including landscape design best practices and feasibility assessments to ensure cost-efficient site preparation. Establish national installation standards and run a comprehensive National Construction Audit program to enforce adherence. Evaluate and oversee schedule management tools and vendor partnerships to improve throughput and predictability. Define the delivery methods for construction training across all divisions to ensure field teams are elite executors. Redefine the Customer Care/Warranty function by establishing service standards, checklists, and referral-generating protocols. Oversee the "Build Experience" framework, ensuring the customer journey is as high-quality as the physical home itself. Accountable for the accuracy and enforcement of all SOPs, construction standards, training, and quality audits across the enterprise. Responsible for national budget management within the production and operations cost centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business required; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
  • Certified Quality Inspector, OSHA 30 Hour Safety Certification, Contractor License required
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership in residential or commercial homebuilding, with at least 5 years at a national or multi-market executive level.
  • Experience partnering with IT/Systems teams to implement ERP, CRM, and construction management platforms.
  • Ability to travel frequently to divisions and job sites to conduct "unplanned" audits and field training.
