About The Position

Avidbank is a $2.3 billion commercial bank based in Silicon Valley serving the San Francisco Bay area and beyond. We are a highly responsive business bank, providing tailored financial solutions. We are advocates for our clients and specialize in providing innovative banking products and supportive services that exceed our clients’ expectations. Founded in 2003, we specialize in commercial & industrial lending, technology and asset-based lending, specialty finance, real estate construction and commercial real estate lending. We have one branch in San Jose along with loan production offices in Redwood City and San Francisco. We are seeking a SVP, Managing Director , focused on originating new technology client relationships for the bank. This role demands a high-performing lender with a track record of navigating the nuances of early-to-growth stage venture debt. You will own the full deal lifecycle, from initial term sheet negotiation to final execution.

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience in Venture Banking, venture capital, private equity or leveraged finance with a technology industry focus.
  • Previous experience in a senior banker role where they have sponsored deals throughout the lifecycle (origination, deal structuring, committee approval, portfolio management, etc.).
  • Strong underwriting and portfolio management skills
  • Results driven.
  • Financial modeling experience and comfort
  • Thrives in a dynamic and remote work environment
  • Skilled communicator (written and verbal)
  • Strong ability to lead and motivate junior staff
  • Ability to interpret financial data and reports and when necessary, recommend appropriate actions
  • Ensures absolute confidentiality in all areas of responsibility
  • Pro-active attitude and resourcefulness
  • This level of knowledge is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree along with at least 10 years of experience. Qualified candidates with equivalent experience should apply.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively originate high-quality venture debt opportunities by leveraging and expanding a deep network of VC partners, founders, and advisors.
  • Act as an ambassador to the startup ecosystem, cultivating long-term relationships with stakeholders to ensure we are the first call for growth capital.
  • Own the deal lifecycle—from initial structuring and term sheet negotiation to final closing—working cross-functionally with credit and legal teams.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on market shifts, competitor moves, and emerging tech sectors to refine our lending strategy.
  • Elevate the firm’s brand by maintaining a high-profile presence at industry events and contributing to our thought leadership.
  • Facilitate training for new venture banking team members.
