About The Position

The SVP, Global Security & Safety is responsible for providing strategic leadership and enterprise-wide oversight of global security, safety, emergency preparedness, and medical programs for Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). Reporting to the EVP, Global Real Estate, Facilities, Security, Safety & Sustainability, this executive role ensures the protection of SPE’s people, productions, assets, facilities, and brand reputation worldwide. The role leverages extensive international experience and subject-matter expertise to design, implement, and continuously improve programs spanning physical security, production safety, emergency and crisis management, health and medical services, business continuity, and regulatory compliance. The position leads a global organization supporting office-based employees and productions across more than 37 countries, 104 cities, and prepares SPE to respond rapidly and effectively to emergencies and crisis situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced coursework or specialized training beyond the BA/BS level strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in private-sector security, safety, and/or law enforcement; a combination is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, complex, global organizations.
  • Extensive experience supporting motion picture and television production environments.
  • Deep knowledge of global security, safety, fire, and life safety systems.
  • Strong understanding of emergency and crisis management principles, including the Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Familiarity with production processes, construction methods, stunts, rigging, special effects, and associated risks.
  • Proven ability to define strategy, establish priorities, and measure performance through clear objectives and metrics.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical capability, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across diverse cultures and organizational levels.
  • High integrity, ethical judgment, and ability to operate effectively in complex, high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global efforts to ensure the physical security of all SPE facilities and the personal safety of employees, contractors, productions, talent, tenants, and visitors.
  • Provide strategic guidance on risk management and mitigation, crime prevention, workplace security, visitor management, parking services, travel security, executive protection, and selected anti-piracy and content protection initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide standards, policies, and procedures aligned with SPE policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Directly supervise six senior leaders and oversee a global organization of approximately 56 full-time employees and more than 150 contractors.
  • Manage organizational development, staffing, performance management, compensation planning, and compliance with SPE policies and procedures.
  • Oversee an annual operating budget of approximately $16M and capital projects totaling approximately $2M.
  • Lead global electronic and technical security programs through standardized platforms and integrated technologies.
  • Ensure lifecycle governance for system design, procurement, implementation, integration, maintenance, and disposition.
  • Oversee the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) and its role in enterprise monitoring, reporting, and incident response.
  • Oversee SPE’s integrated Production Safety & Security function supporting approximately 150 physical productions annually.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and industry best practices for productions, including technical scouts, engineering reviews, construction oversight, stunts, special effects, and accident investigations.
  • Participate in industry production safety and security forums and working groups.
  • Lead SPE’s global Crisis Management and Emergency Preparedness programs, including pandemic response, incident management, crisis communications, and recovery planning.
  • Oversee the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) program, including development, testing, tabletop exercises, and ongoing maintenance across all lines of business.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international safety, health, and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA).
  • Oversee corporate safety programs including Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP), ergonomics, indoor air quality, lead and asbestos monitoring, accident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Track, analyze, and report injury and illness trends and implement prevention strategies.
  • Provide executive oversight of SPE’s medical department, including clinic operations with more than 6,000 visits annually.
  • Ensure compliance with all medical protocols, department policies, and state and federal regulations governing healthcare delivery.
  • Oversee occupational injury tracking, workers’ compensation case management, and coordination of care for injured workers.
  • Serve as Service Provider and Coordinator for the Los Angeles County EMS Agency Public Access Defibrillator Program.
  • Act as primary liaison with internal partners including Legal, Risk Management, Information Security, Investigations, Studio Operations, and Human Resources.
  • Maintain strong relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies (e.g., FBI, LAPD, CCPD).
  • Represent SPE at North America “One Sony” initiatives and support broader Sony Group Company security and safety efforts.
