PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for providing customer support through the performance of on-site installations, diagnosis, troubleshooting, service, and repair of on-machine control systems. DIMENSIONS: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Install Trimble 2D and 3D machine control systems and telematics hardware on Cat and non-Cat branded machines and the professional installation of Cat AccuGrade systems on Cat machines. Deliver quality technical assistance on time and ensure customer satisfaction Be the primary resource in providing on-machine installation, maintenance and on-machine training on construction heavy civil construction technology at the customer's site Ensure the operational quality of the system by documenting post-installation tests Provide on-site troubleshooting as requested by the sales and technical support organizations Provide high-level operator training to end-users Ensure that installation, training and other work necessary is completed on time Document and report field activities as well as being pro-active in creating process improvement Assist the GPEC Operations Team with tasks related to equipment shipping, receiving and handling Maintain and be accountable for inventory of all service parts and equipment by performing monthly inventory checks. Check the equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled, comply with PPE requirements, and otherwise prepare for duties. May perform repair both in the field and in the shop. Pre-Installation checkout of machine control systems prior to going to the field (complete electrical system, software and bill-of-materials compliance checkout). Uses computers for troubleshooting, upgrading proprietary manufacturer’s software, firmware and networks. Uses manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot Trimble and associated vendors' equipment. Uses hand & power tools to remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test parts/equipment on machine control technology equipment. Uses electronic test instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers. Uses tools to disassemble/reassemble parts or equipment; cleans parts with rags, cleaners, power washer; uses test equipment to make diagnostic checks; and uses powered equipment or tools to make repairs. Climbs up onto, under, & into vehicles to gain access to all parts of vehicle Physically moves items onto and/or off vehicle (control boxes, cables, sensors, receivers, masts, etc.) & then to move parts to locations for disassembly, repair, then back to the vehicle for reassembly.
