About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to advance sustainable site practices by integrating environmental, community, and building considerations into impactful projects. As a Sustainable Sites Specialist, you will lead technical development for site-focused initiatives, contribute to rating system enhancements, and foster innovative approaches to green infrastructure and ecological conservation. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, develop and communicate technical guidance, and engage external experts to ensure alignment with evolving sustainability standards. This position provides a platform to shape the future of site sustainability, influence strategic outcomes, and support the development of high-performance, resilient environments. You’ll balance analytical research with hands-on collaboration, making a tangible difference in both local and global contexts.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant experience, with 7+ years preferred, in the built environment or sustainability sectors
  • Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, ecology, environmental science/policy, land use planning, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Broad knowledge of sustainable site development, ecosystem restoration, and green infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with LEED rating systems; experience with SITES preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Salesforce and Smartsheet a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to translate strategic goals into technical solutions

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop technical content on site sustainability topics across rating systems, including LEED and SITES
  • Provide expertise in ecological conservation, green infrastructure, stormwater management, sustainable landscaping, heat island reduction, biodiversity, and resilient site design
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external volunteers to co-develop credits and integrate sustainable site concepts across programs
  • Monitor trends in site sustainability and emerging technologies to inform innovative strategies
  • Facilitate public speaking engagements and develop technical content for presentations
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding site-related technical standards
  • Support integrated strategy implementation for sustainable site initiatives
