SMUD's Sustainable Communities group is looking for a summer intern to help the team with data related projects, maintaining and updating data in spreadsheets, basic internet research, as well as basic data analysis. The intern will play a key role in the Sustainable Communities Data Team. They will utilize Excel, MS Office tools, and Airtable to help support the data team and community partners. The intern may participate in community events to share Sustainable Communities related materials, will assist with metrics tracking of all Sustainable Communities partners and collect data for the Sustainable Communities Resource Priority Map update. This internship will enhance an intern's understanding of the Sustainable Community priority funding pillars and provide valuable experience in supporting and developing community nonprofit projects. It will offer opportunities for outreach, public speaking, understanding of the importance of data and insight into supporting a department through data management. About SMUD's College Internship Program SMUD's College Internship Program provides college interns with an opportunity to contribute their skills and knowledge to SMUD while gaining valuable work experience. Workshops and activities will also be part of the program where interns will have the opportunity to be immersed in SMUD's culture and learn leadership skills as well as develop their professional skills. SMUD was also recognized by Interns 2 Pros for the 2020 Internship Program of The Year Award in recognition of excellence in internship strategy, implementation, and impact and was one of five finalists for the 2023 Internship Program of the Year from Interns 2 Pros along with Paramount, Fox Corporation, Intuit, and Toyota.PurposeUnder staff direction, incumbents in this classification are full-time students who perform research and analytical tasks for projects and assignments that utilize specific and acquired academic skills and knowledge in non-engineering subjects and disciplines.Nature and ScopeThe work performed in this classification calls for regular application of analytical and independent research skills. This work is distinguished from students engaged in repetitive and easily learned tasks who are employed in the Office Assistant (clerical/technical) classification. Incumbents in the Engineering Student Assistant classification perform at a similar level but are restricted to students majoring in an Engineering curriculum and performing tasks that employ acquired mathematical and science knowledge.
