SMUD's Community Education and Technology Center (CE&TC) group is excited to announce an opening for a student intern. CE&TC is the hub for SMUD's external education effort, providing learning opportunities in a variety of formats for our commercial, residential, and K-12 customers. Our larger mission is to enhance the quality of life for all our customers by helping to bring environmental equity and economic vitality to all communities in our service area. We're looking for someone who is passionate about helping SMUD's K-12 customers learn about SMUD's vision for a zero carbon future. Through providing equitable opportunities for our community to take part in county wide programs, competitions, and creative partnerships, we'll inspire our customers ages K through "Grey" to do things like act more sustainably, get involved in STEM careers, and participate in SMUD STEM programming. This internship position is in-person, onsite. About SMUD's College Internship Program SMUD's College Internship Program provides college interns with an opportunity to contribute their skills and knowledge to SMUD while gaining valuable work experience. Workshops and activities will also be part of the program where interns will have the opportunity to be immersed in SMUD's culture and learn leadership skills as well as develop their professional skills. SMUD was also recognized by Interns 2 Pros for the 2020 Internship Program of The Year Award in recognition of excellence in internship strategy, implementation, and impact and was one of five finalists for the 2023 Internship Program of the Year from Interns 2 Pros along with Paramount, Fox Corporation, Intuit, and Toyota.PurposeUnder staff direction, incumbents in this classification are full-time students who perform research and analytical tasks for projects and assignments that utilize specific and acquired academic skills and knowledge in non-engineering subjects and disciplines.Nature and ScopeThe work performed in this classification calls for regular application of analytical and independent research skills. This work is distinguished from students engaged in repetitive and easily learned tasks who are employed in the Office Assistant (clerical/technical) classification. Incumbents in the Engineering Student Assistant classification perform at a similar level but are restricted to students majoring in an Engineering curriculum and performing tasks that employ acquired mathematical and science knowledge.
