About The Position

You will be working closely with the Sustainability Director and the leaders at Pitt Eats developing skills and competencies to understand what is needed to succeed in the sustainability world. You will gain valuable experience in the following areas: operations, administration, guest services, problem resolution, planning and implementation of innovation, and client relationship skills. This internship involves hands-on experience with sustainability, which will guide you in your personal career growth.

Responsibilities

Coordinate sustainable initiatives and events
Storytelling sharing metric-backed stories with reporting entities (e.g. AASHE STARS, GRA, etc.)
Maintain Babylon hydroponic units (germinating, planting, harvesting)
Food Insecurity and Recovery Network initiatives
Sustainable event planning
Waste auditing
Research and analysis of sustainable best practices
Results analysis: preparing metric-backed stories for Business Reviews and other touch points
Training dining team and students on sustainable initiatives and programs
Present findings in reports and presentations
Working with local and student organizations to implement and lead sustainability initiatives
Coordinate Real Food Challenge initiatives
