About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Engineering Co-op to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in West Hartford, CT. In this role, the co-op will be responsible for assisting the Product Development Team in the creation and renewal of Environmental Product Declarations which quantify the environmental impact of a product through use of Life Cycle Assessment tools. Functions include working with Design Engineers and Engineering Managers on assignments that may require lab testing of products, updating CAD documentation, and general product engineering support.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in- or recently completed BSME or Sustainability related studies.
  • Creative approach to problem solving based on solid theoretical engineering/technical skill.
  • Willing to provide engineering support. This includes performing product testing in the laboratory.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have an acceptable level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment both in person, and virtually
  • Must be able to contribute to several projects at a time.
  • Prepare written and verbal reports.
  • Conduct engineering studies/investigations.
  • Use written and oral communication skills
  • Read and interpret data, information and documents
  • Analyze and solve non-routine and complex office administrative problems

Nice To Haves

  • College Junior or higher preferred; Pursuing a Mechanical or a Sustainability related degree.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks which includes the development of assemblies using part models of components is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Apply Life Cycle Analyses (LCA) and Circular Economy principles to Products currently in development
  • Creation, Evaluation, and maintenance of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in the form of Product Environmental Profiles (PEPs)
  • Creation, Evaluation, and maintenance of Health Product Declarations (HPDs) of products
