The Survivor Re-entry Attorney will: · Provide direct legal services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence who have recently been released from prison and who are taking part in post-conviction community supervision and re-entry programs. · Assist survivors and victims in re-entry with protective and personal safety orders, family law matters, housing and public benefits issues, expungement and driver’s license reinstatement matters, and other legal issues that fall within LAWV’s areas of practice for survivors. · Assist survivors in re-entry in Cabell, Clay, Boone, Kanawha, Lincoln, Mason, Putnam and Wayne counties. · Collaborate with funded partners at the WVCADV, Branches, and YWCA Resolve Family Abuse Program and unfunded partners at the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation to establish and implement the project and conduct annual community-based training at Parole Centers or other locales. This position is funded by a three-year defined term Legal Assistance to Victims (LAV) grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence against Women to Legal Aid of West Virginia, Inc. The position can be located either in LAWV’s Huntington or Charleston office.
