About The Position

Duties/Tasks: Duties at the surface coal mine will be wide and varied, based on the needs of the mine. These duties may include all or some of the following: -Work independently or cooperatively with other survey crew members to perform field surveys. -Stake for: TS/SS stripping and respread, overburden removal, ramps, haul roads, county roads, underground utilities, ponds, sumps, diversion, etc. -Stake and survey drill holes, piezometer locations and aerial flight target locations. -Load GPS files into equipment. -Assist with coal and geologic drilling/sampling, overburden sampling, and surface water runoff sampling. -Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and State and Federal Environmental regulations. --Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The successful applicant should have a working knowledge of survey practices in an operating surface mine
Competent knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations
Knowledge of electronic survey equipment and GPS survey equipment
Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Enrolled in an accredited technical program and in good academic standing

Responsibilities
