About The Position

Job Summary: Under direct supervision, provide support to the Registered Land Surveyor. Tasks will include performing land surveys and conducting research on various projects which may include mapping/drafting legal boundaries and the placement of structures, utilities, and installations. Generate accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensure that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for uniformity, thoroughness, and legal compliance. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Under direct supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, researching, and analyzing data from property/utility records, deeds, land/property titles, structural plans, and other land surveying activities. Under direct supervision, use survey instruments to perform various types of surveys on projects of varying complexity and/or scope, to include boundary, existing condition, topographic, as-built, subdivision, hydrographic, and profile maps. Provide entry-level survey assistance that accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications. Assist with survey activities for projects of varying scope and complexity within a region. Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation related to site inspection and survey findings using photographs, sketches, calculations, software, spreadsheets, technical drawings, and reports. Complete training on assigned tasks. Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, studies, surveys, and construction. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources. Adhere to standards of professional conduct and KLJ’s policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Excellent research and evaluation skills with analytical mindset
  • Self-disciplined with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies
  • Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workday or week
  • Occasional travel may be required depending upon project specific needs
  • Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Talk or hear and communicate clearly.
  • Be able to walk on uneven terrain up to ten miles per day.
  • Have the ability to work outdoors in the elements for the full day, year-round
  • Frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
