About The Position

The Survey Technician I supports field surveying operations across RES Solar, T&D, and Preconstruction projects. This role is responsible for assisting in the collection of field data, setup of survey instruments, and performance of routine surveying tasks under direct supervision. The position ensures safety and quality are maintained while learning RES surveying standards, data procedures, and operational workflows. In the capacity of executing all on-site surveying activities, the Survey Technician ensures the successful and timely completion of the surveying project within the allocated budget.

Requirements

  • Highschool/GED General Preferred
  • Less than 1 year Construction Surveying Preferred
  • Less than 1 year AutoCAD & TBC Experience Preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Part 107 License Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with setting up and breaking down survey instruments, tripods, and equipment.
  • Performs manual labor such as carrying stakes, setting pins, clearing brush, and maintaining work areas.
  • Supports field data collection including construction staking, topographic surveys, and as-built documentation.
  • Maintains and organizes survey tools, supplies, and control point records.
  • Operates company vehicles and equipment safely in varying site and weather conditions.
  • Communicates daily with the Crew Chief to receive assignments, report progress, and identify needs.
  • Participates in training and development activities to build foundational surveying knowledge.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Ensures that safety is the most important function, follows safe practices while working.
  • Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates “at risk” behaviors.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
  • Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures.
  • Receives job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.
  • Follows technical, quality and safety systems in place and determines appropriate action.
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
