About The Position

Woolpert is hiring a Survey Project Manager to join our dynamic Survey & Geomatics team. This position requires candidates to hold active Professional Land Surveyor licensure in both Ohio (PLS) and New York (LS).Woolpert is seeking a Land Surveyor Project Manager in our Survey & Geomatics Discipline to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of land surveying and geospatial projects across transportation, infrastructure, and land development markets. This role blends technical land surveying expertise with project management, client leadership, and team coordination to deliver high‑quality solutions that support Woolpert’s integrated Architecture, Engineering, and Geospatial (AEG) services. Collaborating with dynamic, cross-functional teams, you’ll craft detailed, high-quality deliverables that meet and exceed expectations. The Land Surveyor Project Manager serves as a trusted advisor to clients, ensures compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to Woolpert’s quality standards.

Requirements

  • Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the state of Ohio and New York. If not license in both states, the ability to obtain licensure in Ohio and New York.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Significant experience in land surveying with demonstrated experience managing survey or geospatial projects.
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, project management practices, and DOT and municipal standards.
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard survey, CAD, and geospatial software.
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment verification and drug screening.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
  • Client‑focused mindset aligned with Woolpert’s commitment to quality, innovation, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage land surveying and geospatial projects from project initiation through final delivery.
  • Develop detailed project scopes, schedules, budgets, and work plans in coordination with Discipline Leaders, Team Leaders, and Market Leaders.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively address schedule, budget, staffing, or technical issues.
  • Ensure deliverables meet Woolpert quality standards, client requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Provide technical oversight for a range of survey services, including boundary, topographic, route, right‑of‑way, construction, and control surveys.
  • Oversee the application of conventional survey methods as well as advanced geospatial technologies such as photogrammetry, LiDAR, UAS, and mobile mapping, as appropriate.
  • Ensure all surveying work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, professional standards, and Woolpert best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead scoping meetings and coordinate with clients to define project objectives, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships that support repeat business and long‑term partnerships.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including surveyors, technicians, and geospatial specialists.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to project staff.
  • Collaborate with internal disciplines (e.g.: engineering, photogrammetry, LiDAR, UAS, SUE, GIS, etc.) to support integrated project delivery.
  • Support proposal development, cost estimating, and project pursuits.
  • Assist with identifying and developing new business opportunities within existing and emerging markets.
  • Contribute to the growth of Woolpert’s Survey & Geomatics Discipline by supporting client expansion and market initiatives.
