Position will serve as Survey Party Chief in the Smithfield Resident’s Office. • Your work will include performing survey work on complex construction projects, supervising survey crews and lower-level technicians, making independent decisions, and communicating effectively with co-workers, contractor's personnel, and the general public. • You will be responsible for reviewing the contractor’s survey submittals and providing checks of their construction layouts in the field. • You must have the ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and specification/inspection procedures. • In this position you will be exposed to outside environmental hazards, confined areas, and may be required to work at night and on weekends. Safety Toe Shoes required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and specification/inspection procedures.

  • Safety Toe Shoes required.
  • Associate’s degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology or Survey Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and seven (7) years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using surveying equipment, instruments, levels, data collectors and GPS equipment
  • Experience with mathematical functions including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Experience performing highway construction stakeouts
  • Experience conducting independent, moderately complex surveying
  • Computer experience including office software and drafting software
