About The Position

Are you a civil engineering or survey technician student looking for an internship opportunity? At Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI), we are scientists, engineers, GIS specialists, software engineers, and surveyors providing innovative and practical leading-edge science-based solutions to public, private and non-profit clients. Consider joining our Eden Prairie team as a Survey intern! HEI’s Survey interns get involved with practical on-the-job projects, spending most of their time working with outdoor surveying and/or construction phase activities.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a two-year civil survey technician program, civil engineering program or related field, or strong interest in pursuing land surveying preferred
• Able to work for extended periods of time in outdoor conditions
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record
• Availability for occasional overnight travel

Nice To Haves

• Completion of coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD preferred

Responsibilities

• Travel with survey crew to civil engineering project sites
• Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station to gather field survey data
• Place stakes at designated points and drive them into ground at specified elevation
• Support survey staff with processing survey data and performing simple surveying calculations
