About The Position

STV is seeking an Instrument Operator for multiple TX office locations. In this role, you will be using Trimble Robotic Total Station running Trimble Access software on the data collector to set points, boundaries, lines, elevations, etc. The ideal candidate has 1+ years of experience as an Instrument Man and possess superior knowledge in construction staking, level loops, and GPS site calibration. Requirements

  • Prior experience working on new projects in commercial, civil environments.
  • Able to perform work with minimum supervision.
  • Understand construction terminology.
  • Basic Mathematics skills.
  • Must identify and utilize common construction materials, hand tools, and power tools (hammer, shovel, laser level, water pump, measuring tape, hammer drill, saw, demolition hammer, etc.).
  • Proven commitment to Safety.
  • Work in an organized manner.
  • Able to work night shifts when needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from the job site.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  • Must be self-motivated and can work well with others.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting/pushing/pulling of material weighing 50 pounds.
  • Ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces.
  • Minimum age 18+.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Task Hazard Analysis (THA) logs daily.
  • Recognize and communicate hazards/danger zones to surveying crew.
  • Assist survey crew in performing surveys and field stake-out (roads, bridges, buildings, and other properties).
  • Assist with the interpretation of electronic drawing systems.
  • Operate and set up surveying instruments (Trimble Robotic Total Station, etc.) for land surveying operations.
  • Utilize engineer calculator.
  • Transfer grid lines and elevations from a set point.
  • Identify survey tools and material (laser, level, road, stakes, transit, etc.).
  • Position and hold vertical rods/targets used for sighting to measure angles, distance, and elevations.
  • Provide surveying equipment maintenance, cleaning, and proper storage.
  • Successfully complete required training to use personal arrest system.
