About The Position

The Survey Crew Technician will require utilizing conventional survey methods and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers recording signals from navigational satellites. This position will perform a wide variety of complex assignments in analyzing, computing, editing, processing of geodetic survey field data. Work includes reviewing completed field data performed by other members of the survey team to insure completeness and accuracy. Work involves a fairly wide range of independent decision making and use of judgment in the field and geodetic survey activities. Employee receives project assignments from higher level technicians. Position will be responsible for performing field operations in a safe manner and utilize traffic control when working on or near a roadway. The Survey Crew Technician will perform all aspects of geodetic surveying including public trust lands research, countyand state boundary surveys, research, and analysis and processing of survey data. Work functions may include: the installing antenna mounts on designated structures along with the GPS receivers and accompanying hardware performs maintenance of the Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) visiting the CORS sites to assist in troubleshooting when problems arise and assist with system upgrades assisting crew members in digging holes, carrying concrete bags from truck to monument site, and/or hand mixingand pouring concrete setting disks to establish new monuments The Survey Crew Technician will also be responsible for wearing and maintaining required personal protective wear, maintaining and performing daily safety inspections of vehicles, recording findings in vehicle logs and/or safetyreports. The selected candidate will assist with the monument recovery process including but not limited to performingthe following duties: drawing visibility diagrams taking photos of recovered monuments data entry into Windesc Program measuring new references for monument descriptions maintaining survey equipment and making necessary adjustments

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with geodetic and/or boundary surveys
  • Experience using Global Navigation Satellite System to perform geodetic and/or boundary surveys
  • Experience mixing and pouring concrete, digging holes, and installing antenna mounts
