About The Position

This position is accountable for assisting in obtaining field survey measurements by operating and reading instruments used in conducting route, bridge, hydraulic, and property surveys.Essential Functions Ensures the collection and recording of accurate survey data, using survey instruments. Performs routine calculations based upon instrument readings and presents information in a meaningful format. Assists the Survey Crew Chief in training survey crew personnel in the use and maintenance of survey equipment and instruments, as well as working on a survey crew. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS thirty months of engineering experience; OR Six years of engineering experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Districtwide travel.
  • Successful completion of a background screening

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering as they relate to field surveying.
  • Working knowledge of mathematics, including trigonometry and its application to field surveying and engineering computations.
  • Skill in the use of engineering field and office instruments and of laboratory testing equipment.
  • Ability to take direct charge of simple engineering projects within design standards.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
