Are you ready to lead the charge on high-impact projects? As a Survey/Geospatial Crew Chief at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll be the pivotal figure in field data acquisition. You'll work independently and with a small crew, deploying cutting-edge geospatial technology —like robotic total stations, terrestrial scanners/LiDAR and advanced GPS receivers—to capture and model the real world. You will be responsible for the efficient operation of your field crew, ensuring compliance with our standard operating procedures and current health and safety standards. Your daily mission involves accurately collecting, processing, and recording critical spatial data for a diverse portfolio of projects, including: Boundary and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys: Collecting relative data pertinent to design and real property acquisitions. Topographic and Route Surveys: Creating the foundation for design and development. Photo Control Surveys: Calibrating aerial and drone imagery for precision mapping. Construction Layout: Translating digital designs into physical, buildable points. Under the guidance of a Professional Surveyor , your sharp attention to detail will be key as you take on responsibilities that bridge the field and the office. This includes managing crew schedules and daily assignments, assisting with data collection and construction layout. What You Bring We're looking for a leader who is passionate about survey/ geospatial data quality and leveraging technology to solve complex problems. Experience & Education: 5+ years of practical survey experience, degree in GIS, Geomatics or Construction management is a plus, with demonstrated professional experience in field data collection. Tech Savvy: Expertise in using Trimble Geospatial Equipment/Software ( GPS, Robotic Total Stations, Trimble Access and TBC) . Experience with 3D scanning or drone technology is a plus. GIS Acumen: Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) principles and practices, including developing and maintaining base maps is a plus. Problem-Solver: You possess strong independent judgment and initiative to manage field challenges and optimize workflow. Foundational Knowledge: Solid understanding of land surveying principles, techniques, and practices, as well as an awareness of civil engineering concepts and construction specifications. Field Ready: Ability to work outdoors under varying field conditions, adhering to industry-specific safe workplace principles. Tools & Equipment: Experience operating various motorized equipment and maintaining specialized company gear. Logistics: A Valid Driver's License is required.
