About The Position

Support the Department’s public safety mission by supervising and monitoring probationers in accordance with DOC standards. The role enhances community safety through home contacts, investigative support, and coordination with community resources. It ensures accurate documentation, effective communication, and timely reporting. Surveillance Officers play a key role in probationer accountability and successful reintegration. This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This position offers no state benefits.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of surveillance and investigative techniques.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Automated Databases.
  • Demonstrated experience to collect pertinent information from a variety of sources, maintain logs, and document discussions with inmates, or probationers in a human service setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of an electronic, voice monitoring system &/or anytrax.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with case management computer applications.
  • Demonstrated experience making referrals to community resources.
  • The selected candidate must be eligible and successfully obtain required VCIN certification.
