Responsibilities Accuracy & Compliance Management Process surplus lines tax transactions and filings for all states within state-mandated deadlines Review comparative late filing reports, improve accuracy, and request refunds of erroneous charges where applicable Run reports and verification of state surplus lines tax data to ensure accuracy of information and correct errors where necessary Customer Service & Communication Respond promptly to inquiries from surplus lines team, divisions, and third-party vendors Resolve transactions in question (TIQs, TAGs, flagged transactions) and escalate complex issues to Surplus Lines Tax Manager when needed Monitor state correspondence and maintain clear communication regarding transaction status Communicate changes in state regulatory requirements to manager and impacted SPG employees Support state audits by coordinating document submission and maintaining state communication files Team Development & Process Improvement Coach and mentor surplus lines tax analysts on processes, regulations, and best practices Conduct regular meetings with assigned filers to review performance, provide guidance, and ensure alignment Identify gaps in analyst processes and provide training as needed Cross-train team members to ensure adequate coverage for critical tasks during absences Process & Documentation Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assigned states in collaboration with analysts Ensure filing documentation is properly maintained and audit-ready Maintain departmental logs for state audits, surplus lines tax transactions, and state correspondence Work with management to identify efficiency improvements and develop best practices Additional Duties Assist manager with researching potential state additions in InsCipher Respond to ResourcePro inquiries pertaining to issues in designated states Support divisions and third-party vendors with process issues and regulatory questions Experience Requirement Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 2+ years professional work experience in insurance or related field Knowledge of insurance industry, admitted vs. non-admitted markets, and surplus lines compliance preferred Microsoft Office proficiency with an emphasis in Excel and Outlook Exceptional attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Positive and professional attitude with a customer service orientation Ability to prioritize and execute tasks independently in a fast-paced environment Ability to handle high volume workload while maintaining accuracy Strong team collaboration skills with the ability to mentor and coach others Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and service level agreements consistently Compensation: Disclosure required under applicable law in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Washington states: The expected salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
