About The Position

This faculty position will provide instruction, student advising, and academic program responsibilities in the Cherokee Nation Surgical Technology Program. The instructor will be responsible for developing and teaching a competency-based curriculum to provide classroom theory and laboratory application to prepare students for entry-level positions in the Surgical Technology field. The instructor will also be responsible for the operation of the program, which includes budget, industry relations, periodic review and evaluation, course effectiveness assessments, and curriculum development. Must be able to work with industry and advisory boards to create and facilitate student-learning opportunities and support the foundation along with Cherokee Nation Health Services. Must continually assess and enhance the program so that all educational requirements, rules, and regulations of accrediting bodies and most current industry standards are met.

Requirements

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; no exceptions.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a related field.
  • An individual should know accounting software, contact management software, internet software, order-processing systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
  • Must possess and maintain certification in surgical technology throughout employment.
  • Must obtain BLS within ninety (90) days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.
