About The Position

The Surgical Technology Clinical Coordinator is an active member of Allied Health Sciences and reports to the Surgical Technology Program Director, Applied Programs Coordinator, and the Allied Health Sciences department chair. The clinical coordinator is responsible for coordinating clinical education, including academic oversight, of the student clinical experience under the guidance of the standards set forth by accreditation. Description of Job Duties: Provides administration, organization, and supervision of student clinical experiences. Ensures documentation of the evaluation and progression of clinical performance leading to clinical competence. Provides continuous quality review and improvement of student clinical experience. Ensures orientation to the program’s requirements of the personnel who supervise or instruct students at clinical sites. Coordinates the assignments of students to clinical sites. Maintain student records. Develop a learning environment that offers opportunities for active participation in the learning process by providing traditional instruction in Surgical Technology Program as well as other Allied Health Sciences courses. Ability to plan and prepare course content and curriculum, using effective methodologies of instruction for the enhancement of learning. Maintain expertise in field of study and teaching pedagogy by attending seminars, workshops, and classes for self-improvement and/or professional enhancement. Mains active participation in professional organizations and/or service organizations as appropriate. Participate in recruitment, advisement, and enrollment management surgical technology students. Support student activities, including course and career guidance and mentoring students. All other tasks as assigned by the department chair of Allied Health Sciences. Requirements

  • Associate degree in Surgical Technology is required.
  • Applicant must be certified as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Three years of clinical experience or educational experience in a Surgical Technology program, or a combination of both, is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field is preferred.
  • Education experience is preferred.
