About The Position
Fairview has an immedaite opening for a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at our Woodwinds Hospital located in Woodbury, MN. We’re offering an up to $6,000 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000! As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room. Schedule: This position will be working 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the day shift. This position does have on call requirements. Call requirements are above FTE.This position has a 30-minute call time (onsite call room available as well). About our OR at Woodwinds: We perform approximately 2,000 total joints a year including sophisticated revisions in our 6 innovative Operating Rooms and 1 Procedure Room. We average 15 - 25 cases per day. Our specialties include, but are not limited to, Orthopedics, General, Gynecology, Neuro/spine, Podiatry, Orthopedic Spine, Urology, Vascular, and ENT. Requirements
- Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; OR LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
- Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
- Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
- Ability to work well under a team environment.
Nice To Haves
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
- AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
- 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
Responsibilities
- Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
- Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
- Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
- Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
- Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
- Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
- Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
- Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.
- Following appropriate action in emergency situations.
