About The Position

NMC is currently recruiting a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. The position is full-time (80 hours bi-weekly), generally M-F 0730-1600 with evening and weekend call rotation. The Certified Surgical Technologist assists with providing surgical instrumentation to the surgeon during surgery, pre and post surgery under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, also the care/cleaning of equipment and room pre and post surgical.

Requirements

  • Education: LPN Graduate with interest in the operating room and/or graduate from a Surgical Technologist Program. A non-traditional route to establish qualifications may be accepted after review of education and experience.
  • Experience: Prior experience as an LPN or healthcare professional (i.e. surgical assistant) or one year experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
  • Special Skills: Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to assist surgeons in the scrub role.
  • Other: Available within 30 minutes of hospital and is willing to take part in on-call rotation.
  • Certifications: BLS

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as an LPN or healthcare professional (i.e. surgical assistant) or one year experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.

  • Under the delegation of the RN, performs other duties as needed
  • Reports pertinent and concise information

  • Seeks assistance when needed
  • Maintains patient safety by maintaining integrity of sterile field
  • Accurately prepares OR rooms with appropriate instruments and sutures
  • Opens required items and sets up surgical cases
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.
