About The Position

Assist surgical team before, during, and after surgery.

Requirements

• Education: Graduate of Surgical Technological Program or related on the job training with six to twelve months related experience. Associate’s degree preferred.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration:
• Surgical Technologist Certificate preferred.
• BLS required
• Complexity of Work:

Responsibilities

• Other duties may be assigned.
• Scrub person/technician.
• Opens and readies room for first A.M. case.
• Passes instruments, assists with retractors.
• Provides relief to other staff.
• Troubleshoots equipment.
• Exhibits a commitment of exemplary customer service.
• Participates in the communication network with appropriate members of the health care team.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation.
• Displays competency for age specific persons from newborn to geriatrics.
• Participates in precepting surgical tech students and new employees.
• Displays competency for the Surgical Technologist role as evidenced in the annual performance appraisal following the FHN PRIDE Standards.
• Provides indirect supervision for nursing assistants.
