About The Position

Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist in the Delivery Room at our Fairview Ridges Hospital located in Burnsville, MN. We're offering a $4500 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000! This is a benefits-eligible role. As a Surgical Technologist, you'll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You'll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room. Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the day shift with every third weekend. About our OR at Ridges: Our 150-bed community-based hospital currently has 11 OR Rooms, averaging over 7,500 cases a year. Our OR specializes in areas including: Spine, Ortho, OB-GYN, General, ENT, Plastic, Urology, and Da Vinci. Our call response time is 30 minutes and it is a weekend Increased flexibility! Limited Call schedule (1 out of 6 weekends)

Requirements

  • Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; OR LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
  • Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
  • 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to work well under a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
  • Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
  • Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
  • Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
  • Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
  • Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
  • Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
  • Anticipating the surgeon's needs.
  • Following appropriate action in emergency situations.
