About The Position

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist (OR General) to support a variety of surgical procedures under the direct supervision of the Surgeon and Registered Nurse. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, maintains sterile technique, and contributes to a safe, high-quality surgical environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited civilian or military Surgical Technology program.
  • National certification required within 12 months of graduation (NBSTSA) and must be maintained.
  • Certification must be from an entity accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Orthopedic experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, equipment, and solutions.
  • Maintain sterile field in accordance with hospital policy and AORN Standards of Care.
  • Perform scrub technician duties across multiple surgical specialties.
  • Pass instruments and sterile supplies to the surgeon and surgical assistants during procedures.
  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and assist with sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
  • Prepare, label, and handle medications under the direction of the RN and Surgeon.
  • Assemble, inspect, and adjust sterile and non-sterile equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Operate equipment including lights, suction, sterilizers, and diagnostic devices as needed.
  • Prepare, manage, and properly dispose of surgical specimens.
  • Assist with patient transport, positioning, transfers to recovery, and application of surgical dressings.
  • Ensure case-specific instrumentation and equipment are available per surgeon preference cards.
  • Assist with OR turnover and restocking between cases.
  • Support orientation of new staff when required and participate in educational and in-service programs.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and safety at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to promote teamwork and high-quality patient care.
