About The Position

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a 13-week contract assignment in a busy Operating Room setting. The Surgical Technologist will support surgeons and registered nurses during a wide range of surgical procedures while ensuring a sterile, safe, and efficient surgical environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical knowledge, strict adherence to AORN standards, and the ability to work effectively across multiple surgical specialties.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited civilian or military Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician program
  • National Certification (NBSTSA) required within 12 months of graduation and must be maintained
  • Certification from an organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

Nice To Haves

  • Orthopedic (Ortho) surgical experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working in multi-specialty operating room environments

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room with surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and solutions
  • Maintain sterile field in accordance with hospital policy and AORN Standards of Care
  • Perform scrub technician duties across all surgical services and specialties
  • Pass instruments and sterile supplies during procedures
  • Assist with retractors, suturing, and surgical counts (sponge, needle, instrument)
  • Prepare, label, and handle medications under RN and surgeon supervision
  • Handle and prepare surgical specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Assist with surgical dressings and patient positioning
  • Ensure availability of case-specific instruments per surgeon preference cards
  • Assist with patient transport to and from the OR
  • Support room turnover and restocking
  • Operate sterilizers, suction equipment, surgical lights, and other necessary equipment
  • Participate in staff meetings and ongoing education
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and safety at all times
  • Deliver high-quality patient-centered care and service excellence
