About The Position

Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist in the Delivery Room at St. John's Hospital location in Maplewood, MN. We're offering an up to $4,500 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus! As a Surgical Technologist, you'll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the delivery room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You'll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the delivery room. Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. This position will also work a rotation for every third weekend. Requirements

  • Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; OR LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
  • 1- 3 years surgical experience
  • AST Certification or certification eligible at time of hire

Responsibilities

  • Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
  • Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
  • Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
  • Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
  • Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
  • Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
  • Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
  • Anticipating the surgeon's needs.
  • Following appropriate action in emergency situations.
